The Surgical Admissions Unit is located on the ground floor of the red block.

What is Surgical Admissions Unit?
The Surgical Admissions Unit is a 21-bedded mixed gender ward that deals with general surgery. Patients are admitted to this ward through the Emergency Department, as planned admissions for surgery and also from other wards (such as Intensive Therapy Unit) for post-operative care management.

Who will look after me?
A team of nurses managed by Mr. Peter Sant, Charge Nurse, who is assisted by his deputy Ms.Gina Micallef will care for the patient whilst in the ward. 

Consultants Mr.E.Ellul, Ms.A.Sultana, Mr.C.Cini and Mr P .Andrejevic and the CEPOD Consultants, all have patients in this ward. However, there may be occasions where other Consultants may have patients in this ward.

Meal times
A selection of meals are brought everyday, however, pre- ordering of food is not permissible due to the constant turnover of patients.


Breakfast: 8:00am to 8:30am
Lunch: 11:15am to 11:45am
Dinner: 5.:15pm to 5:45pm

Visiting hours:
Official visiting times are:
Monday to Sunday (including public holidays):
11:30 to 13:00 (2 visitors at any one time)
15:00 to 20:00 (2 visitors at any one time)

Special permits for visiting outside the established visiting hours may be given to relatives on the discretion of the Charge Nurse.

Contacting the ward
To speak to the nurses on the ward, one may call on 2545 4013. Nursing staff will not give detailed medical information over the phone to protect patients’ right to confidentiality.
