Practicing as a Nurse in Malta 

For a person to be able to practice as a nurse in Malta, first he/she needs to submit the relative application supported by the documents as requested by the Council for Nurses and Midwives and, if approved by the Council, have his/her name entered in one of the Registers of Nurses held by the Council for Nurses and Midwives.

The office of the Council for Nurses and Midwives is situated in: 
Public Health Regulation, OPD Level 1, St. Luke’s Hospital, Gwardamangia, Malta.
 
Opening hours for the Public –Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 2:00pm.  However, in order to ensure availability of the Registrar, it is advised to set an appointment.


Practicing as a Midwife in Malta 
 
For a person to be able to practice as a midwife in Malta, first he/she needs to submit the relative application supported by the documents as requested by the Council for Nurses and Midwives and, if approved by the Council have his/her name entered in the Register of Midwives held by the Council for Nurses and Midwives. Subsequently the Council for Nurses and Midwives recommends the applicant to the President of Malta for the issue of a licence to practice as a midwife in Malta.
