IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APPLICATIONS FROM NON EU TRAINED NURSES AND MIDWIVES

The Council for Nurses and Midwives would like to bring to the attention to prospective applicants for registration as a nurse who obtained their qualifications in Non- EU countries the following information:-

Applicants who submit their application for registration as a Nurse to the Council from 20th June 2022 onwards will be required to attend a Non-EU nursing bridging course which is currently being offered by MCAST or University of Malta in order to be able  to complete the registration process as the Council's Adaptation Course will no longer be offered by the said Council. 

The requirements for registration have not been changed and applicants who have all the requirements and are deemed to be eligible for registration by the Council will have to successfully pass the Language and Professional Proficiency Interview and submit a non- EU Nursing bridging course completion certificate before their application for registration as a Nurse can be approved by the Council. ​​


The Council for Nurses and Midwives would like to inform prospective applicants for registration as a Nurse/Midwife of the following additional requirements which will be compulsory for eligibility for registration:-                    

As from the 1st June 2021, non EU applicants for nursing registration are required to provide reference letters to confirm that they have practiced the nursing profession for at least 12 months in the last 5 years from the date of application or that they have completed the nursing programme and registered with the respective council within the last 18 months from date of application.​

Language requirements have not been changed, applications without IELTS academic with an average score of at least 6 or OET with scores of B in speaking and at least C+ in writing, reading and listening cannot be accepted.

Please note unless you have all the requirements  your application cannot be processed and fee of 192.50 is not refundable.

The COUNCIL FOR NURSES AND MIDWIVES, Malta (CNM) regulates the Nursing and Midwifery Professions in Malta. Its function is defined in the Health Care Professions Act 2003.
 
One of the main functions of the CNM is to regulate the entry to and exit from a register of health care professional if he/she is a nurse or a midwife.
 
The Council is responsible for the upholding of high professional and educational standards for both professions. CNM published the Code of Ethics for Midwives and Nurses in 1997 and is committed towards the attainment of excellence in the delivery of professional care by encouraging continuing professional development amongst its registrants.
