ENT Ward

Where is ENT Ward?
ENT Ward is located at the First Floor of the Green Block.

What is ENT Ward?

ENT Ward is an 18 bedded, mixed Otolaryngology ward that caters for all medical and surgical ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) cases. It also accommodates maxillo-facial and dental cases. Patients are admitted to this ward either elective having a set date for surgery or through the ENT Admitting and Emergency Department being also based in the ENT ward.
Most of the operated patients are followed up at the ENT Outpatients.

Who will look after me?
A team of nurses under the management of Ms. Michaelina Cricchiola Charge Nurse and assisted by Ms. Carmen Attard Deputy Charge Nurse cares for the patients whilst in the ward. Mr.M.Said is the Clinical Chair for ENT Department, and with the other ENT consultants: Mr.C.Borg, Mr.E.J.Farrugia and Mr.H. Borg Xuereb attends to all ENT and head and neck cases.  Dr. T. Fenech and Dr E. Pace Balzan are attending out-patient consultants for the Audiology and Dizziness Department; also uses the ward facilities for their caring patients.

Mr. C. Pace is the attending maxillo-facial and head and neck consultant, while the dental patients are under the care of the dental team comprising of Mr. A. Cassar and Mr. A. Azzopardi.

Meal times
Patients have the opportunity of ordering their lunch and dinner from an established menu. A staff member will go around the patients in the morning so that the order is taken for the next day.

Breakfast: 7:30am to 8:00am
Lunch: 11:30am to 12:30pm
Dinner: 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Visiting times 
Monday to Sunday (including public holidays):
11:30 to 13:00 (2 visitors at any one time)
15:00 to 20:00 (2 visitors at any one time)

Special permits for visiting outside the established visiting hours may be given to relatives on the discretion of the Charge Nurse​. Parents are allowed to stay with children under the age of 18 years.

Contacting the ward
To speak to the nurses on the ward, one may call on 2545 5010/1 – nursing staff will not give detailed medical information over the phone to protect patients’ right to confidentiality.
