Where is Plastic Surgery Unit?
Plastic Surgery Unit is found in located on the third floor of the yellow block.

What is Plastic Surgery Unit?
Plastic Surgery Unit is a 7 bedded mixed unit catering for patients requiring Plastic and Reconstructive Operations. It also deals with the management of Skin Cancers and Injuries involving the skin. Patients are admitted to this Unit from several sources, such as the Accident and Emergency Department, the Outpatients Department and other Hospital wards.

Other services available at this Unit are:

Dressing Clinic: This deals with regular review of patients attending for Change of Dressing, Removal of Sutures and review of Post-Operative cases.
This Clinic is held from Monday to Sunday between 08:00 and 11:00 am.

Operating Theatre
: Planned Operations under Local Anesthetic are performed on Wednesday and Friday by the two Plastic Surgical Teams.

Who will look after me?
A team of nurses managed by Mr. Victor Chircop, Nursing Officer, who is assisted by his deputy Mr. Mario Grech will care for the patient whilst in the ward.

The Plastic Surgeons who may have patients in this ward are Mr. Briffa and Mr. Darmanin, who visit the patients daily.

Meal times
Patients have the opportunity of ordering their lunch and dinner from an established menu. A staff member will go around the patients in the morning so the order is taken. The food that will be ordered will be for the next day.

Breakfast: 7.30am to 8am
Lunch: 11.30am to 12.30pm
Dinner: 5.30pm to 6.30pm

Visiting times
Official visiting times are:
Monday to Sunday (including public holidays):
11:30 to 12:30 (2 visitors at any one time)
17:00 to 18:00 (2 visitors at any one time

Special permits for visiting outside the established visiting hours may be given to relatives on the discretion of the Nursing Officer.

Contacting the ward
To speak to the nurses on the ward, one may call on 2545 7077– nursing staff will not give detailed medical information over the phone to protect patients’ right to confidentiality.
