CovPass MT
The Maltese Government is providing an application which verifies the authenticity and validity of COVID-19 certificates – CovPass MT (EU Digital COVID Certificate – EU DCC).

Certificate Validity
CovPass MT is the official Maltese application used to verify and confirm the authenticity of an EU Digital COVID Certificate - EU DCC.

It can be used to verify both paper and digital certificates.

A COVID-19 certificate is authentic when:
Vaccination certificate
- ​Accepted vaccines: BioNTech/Pfizer / Moderna / AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) / Johnson&Johnson (Janssen)
- In case of 2 doses:
- From 14 days after the 2nd dose(in case of : BioNTech/Pfizer / Moderna / AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria))
- From 14 days after taking Johnson&Johnson (Janssen)

- Negative COVID-19 test certificate
- Valid for 72 hours following the negative PCR test.

- Recovery certificate
- The recovery certificate is valid between the 14th and 180th day after the positive PCR test.

The recovery certificate is not accepted in Malta.
Should you need to avail of the 6 week exemption period, starting from the 17th January, to  enter an establishment which requires the presentation of a valid vaccine certificate, kindly show your positive test together with your current vaccine certificate at the door.

How the application works
- Open the application
- Scan the QR code of a DCC that is either on paper or on a digital device (smartphone, tablet)
- The validity result appears in:
- Green when the certificate is authentic and valid;
- Red when the certificate is non-authentic or invalid.
- Confirm the data displayed on the app with that displayed on the certificate to ensure that it is the same information and further confirm its authenticity.

Camera information
A device’s camera is required in order to scan valid EU DCC (QR code).

Who can install the CovPass app?
Any android used can download the CovPass app for free from Google Play Store. An IOS version of this app will be available shortly on the Apple App Store.

Why should I install the CovPass MT app?
We recommend that you install the CovPass MT app if the Superintendent for Public Health’s Mandatory Standards and Guidelines require that you check the authenticity and validity of a COVID-19 certificate.

Do I need an internet connection to use the CovPass MT app?
No internet connection is required to scan a vaccine certificate, however, a stable internet connection is required to install the app and all subsequent updates that are issued from time to time.

What are the requirements for installing the CovPass MT app?
To install and use the app, the user must have:
- a compatible multimedia device, namely:
    - a mobile phone with a camera and the operating system Android 8.0 or any later version; or
    - a tablet with a camera and the operating system Android 8.0 or any later version;
- access to a stable internet connection.

Which certificates can I scan with CovPass MT app?
You can scan all EU DCC including the below countries in the app:

Types of certificates are : Vaccine, Test & Recovery.



CovPass MT Wallet
- Open the application
- Create a 6 Digit Pin (you need to remember this pin as it will be required each time you login)
- Click on Add Certificate
- Scan the QR code found on your EU DCC (Digital Covid Certificate)
- Confirm the details on screen are correct and click on Save
- The certificate will now be stored in the app.

Camera information
A device’s camera is required in order to scan valid EU DCC (QR code).

Retention Period
The certificates stored on this app as long as they are valid and are only deleted when the user deletes the certificate or app itself.

Who can install the CovPass MT Wallet app?
Anyone can download the app, which will shortly be freely available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Why should I install the CovPass MT Wallet app?
We recommend that you install the CovPass MT Wallet app so you can easily store your EU DCC information. You can therefore easily access and use your EU DCC.

Can I store other individuals in my CovPass MT Wallet app?
Yes you can store other certificates on the same app (example family member or friends). Kindly seek approval of the individual before you store their certificate.

Do I need an internet connection to use the CovPass MT Wallet app?
No internet connection is required, however, a stable internet connection is required to install the app and all subsequent updates that are issued from time to time.

What are the requirements for installing the CovPass MT Wallet app?
To install and use the app, the user must have:
- a compatible multimedia device, namely:
- a mobile phone with a camera and the operating system iOS 13.0 or Android 8.0 or any later version; or
- a tablet with a camera and the operating system iOS 13.0 or Android 8.0 or any later version;
- access to a stable internet connection.

How do I sign in on the app?
No pre-set accounts are required, you need to create account the first time you log on to the application.

What certificates can I store in the CovPass MT Wallet app?
You can store all EU DCC in the app (Vaccine, Test & Recovery).

Can I remove a certificate stored on the app?
Yes you can delete by clicking on the certificate you want to delete, click on details and then click on delete.

If I forget my password can I get a new one?
Yes, after inputting your pin incorrectly for 3 times the app will ask you to input a new password. Kindly note that when this happens all the certificates stored on the app will be automatically deleted due to security reasons.



Privacy Policy
What personal data is being stored in CovPass MT app?
When your Covid certificate is scanned no health/personal data is shared/stored. App users only get to see your full name and D.O.B the validity period of your certificate and whether it meets the requirement.

What personal data is being stored in CovPass MT Wallet app?
The app stores your personal Covid 19 EU DCC, including Name & Surname, Date of vaccine, Target Disease, Manufacturer, Vaccine medicinal product, vaccine of prophylaxis, issuer country and Certificate issuer. The data is only stored in the app and not shared.

Data
Covpass MT and CovPass MT Wallet only access personal and sensitive data required to directly support the public health emergency and may only use the data collected to support COVID-19-related efforts or epidemiological research.
