Physiotherapists help people to live with long term conditions, to move and function independently as much as possible.  Physiotherapists put the residents' needs at the centre of all their interventions.

 
This department aims to
 
  • Provide the best possible Physiotherapy Services to St Vincent De Paul Long Term Facility and all the sectors pertaining to the care of the older person.
  • Be a centre of information for older persons, carers (professional and otherwise) and students.
  • Be an integral part of services for older persons in whatever community they are residing.
 
 
Inpatient Service
 
  • Residents at St. Vincent De Paule Long Term Care Facility.
  • Elderly persons admitted for respite at SVP.
 
 
Outpatient Service
 
  • Out-patient Services for the Elderly (60+) and SVP staff members.
  • Doctor's referral is required and transport is provided.
 
Clinical Services consist of :
 
  • All residents admitted to SVP are assessed by the physiotherapist.
  • Depending on the assessment findings a treatment plan is formulated.
  • This is carried out within an interprofessional team environment.
  • Periodic screening of residents by the physiotherapist and the ward manager to ensure full coverage of physiotherapy care provision.
  • Ensuring appropriate communication with the residents' carers, professional or otherwise in the different settings and under different employment agencies.
