The Employee Support
Programme (ESP) is a support service available for public employees who may be
experiencing personal or work-related difficulties. The service addresses
issues such as stress, mental health difficulties, relationship and family
concerns, bereavement support, alcohol and substance misuse, and any other
difficulty that may be affecting their wellbeing.
The service is provided by
a team of professionals and is confidential and free of charge for public
employees. Employees do not require their
supervisor’s permission to use ESP services when it is in their own time.
Employees may use ESP services during their working hours by availing themselves
of vacation leave or by requesting temporary absence with their supervisor’s
approval. Employees who receive approval to access the service during working
hours will be provided with confirmation of attendance.
For more information or to
request an appointment please call 2200 1210 or send an email to esp.opm@gov.mt
or visit www.esp.gov.mt.
In addition to the above
services, some entities do offer in-house services. Nurses and midwives
are advised to seek assistance from their superiors should they wish to make
use of such in-house services.
For any additional
directions please feel free to contact the Nursing Services Directorate.
