Bathing Water Programme Data Archive

Bathing water monitoring data as from bathing season 2009 can be downloaded from below.  These give the raw data for all samples collected during the specific bathing season following analysis carried out at the Public Health Laboratory within the Environmental health Directorate. Sea water samples are analysed for Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Intestinal enterococci (IE) and all results are expressed in cfu/100 ml.

Malta monitors 87 officially designated bathing areas and these are sub-divided in 4 zones. Zone A covers bathing areas in the Southern part of Malta, Zone B covers bathing areas in the Central part of Malta, Zone C covers bathing areas in the Northern part of Malta and Zone D covers bathing areas in the islands of Gozo and Comino. A list of all officially designated bathing areas can be found in the Official Bathing Zones and further details on all officially designated bathing areas can also be found in the Bathing Water Profiles.

The official classification of all officially designated bathing areas in accordance to the classification under Directive 2006/7/EC transposed by Legal Notice 125 of 2008 as amended by Legal Notice 237 of 2011 can be found under the EU Bathing Water Reports.
