It is the employee’s responsibility to;
(i) keep a copy of their
Medical Reports and Vaccination cards for future reference.
(ii) ensure that all requested vaccinations are completed prior
to renewal of work permit.

PROCEDURE
FOR APPLICATION
Ensure the form is the latest one available on this website. Old forms will not be processed. Merging of old and new application forms is not allowed and will not be accepted for processing.
a. Download the renewal for work permit application form.
b. Forms should be filled in by the employee, employer and Medical Doctor in their respective sections, preferably typed or in BLOCK LETTERS. Forms not legibly filled will not be processed.
c. Requested health screening investigations are to be carried out locally in the PRIVATE SECTOR.
d. Form should be saved in PDF format as one (1) rolling document.
e. In the email’s subject box, the employee’s name should be specified together with the job applying. for. e.g., Patel Singh – Food Handler-renewal.
f. Form is to be sent by the employer on workpermit.idcu@gov.mt. Applications sent by employees will not be accepted for processing.
g. Please send only ONE (1) application per email.
VACCINATIONS
1. Polio and Diphtheria
All employees (irrespective of the job they are applying for) are required to have full immunity against Polio and Diphtheria.
When applying for renewal applicants can either present proof of vaccination or proof of immunity (submit copy of test submitted on first application).
2. Measles (required for certain jobs)
There are certain jobs for which applicants are required (compulsory) to have full immunity against Measles. These categories are:
Doctors, Dentists, Nurses and Midwives
Other Regulated Healthcare Professionals
Carers and Child Carers
Dental Chairside Assistant/Dental Surgery Assistant
Beauty Therapists, Beauticians, Spa Therapists and Massage Therapists.
In these cases, when applying for renewal applicants can either present proof of vaccination or proof of immunity (submit copy of IgG Measles test submitted on first application).
There are other jobs for which employees will be requested to show that they have immunity against Measles (either submit vaccination records or a copy of the IgG Measles test submitted on first application). These categories are:
Nannies
Food Handlers
Tattooists
Other Jobs
If they are not immune it is recommended that they take the Measles Vaccine.
3. Chest X-Ray report must be attached
4. Covid 19.
When available, Covid19 vaccination certificate is to be attached with the application form.
Due to the nature of their job, some applicants might require Covid19 vaccination.
5. Hepatitis B.
Employees reapplying for jobs as Beauty therapists, Beauticians, Spa Therapists, Massage Therapists; Carers, Child carers; Nannies; Dental Chairside Assistants, Dental Assistants; Doctors, Dentists, Midwives, Nurse; other Regulated Healthcare Professions; Tattooists must have full immunity against Hepatitis B prior to renewal of work permits. Permit may not be issued without evidence of immunity against Hepatitis B with either,
(i) completed Hepatitis B vaccination schedule with vaccines taken in Malta
or
(ii) evidence of immunity though Hepatitis B antibody test (Hepatitis B antibody).
6. Hepatitis A and Typhoid
Employees who are renewing their jobs as Food Handlers need to have completed the full course of Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccination prior to renewal of work permit. Please note that Typhoid vaccination needs to be repeated every 3 years.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Vetting of applications may take up to 15 working days to be processed. Ensure that application forms are duly filled as per guidelines provided in this website and on the application forms.
If medical findings show abnormalities, a copy of the investigation report needs to be submitted with the application form. We will then guide you accordingly.
Once the documentation has been reviewed, an approval email will be sent to the employer. With this email, the employee can proceed to Identity Malta. It is important to take a printed copy of the approval email with you.
If health screening is incomplete or results are unsatisfactory, applications will not be processed, and approval may not be granted.
