What is Rehabilitation ward1?
RW1 is a 31-beded Inpatient Rehabilitation ward that helps individuals who have physical or cognitive deficits to recover from disease or injury. Our goal is to help each individual function as independently as possible. Individuals who are admitted to the Inpatient Rehabilitation ward may include those who have had a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, or those who have a neurological or medically complex condition.

Who will look after me?
A team of professionals led by Dr Stefano La Maestra and Ms Anna Pace as Charge Nurse will be involved in your care during your stay. This team may include: doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, pharmacists, social workers and/or psychologists.

Meal Times
Patients have the opportunity of ordering their lunch and dinner from an established menu. A staff member will go around the patients in the morning so the order is taken. The food that will be ordered will be served in three days time.

Breakfast: 7:30am to 8:00am
Lunch: 11:30am to 12:30pm
Dinner: 17:30pm to 18:30pm

Visiting Times
Official visiting times are from 13:00pm – 20:00pm Mon to Sun. Sundays and public holidays 10:30am – 11:30am

Special permits for visiting outside the established visiting hours may be given to relatives on the discretion of the Charge Nurse or his deputy.

Mass in Rehabilitation Ward 1
Mass is held in Ward 1 every Wednesday at 15:45pm

Contacting the ward and the patient
To speak to the nurses on the ward by telephone, one may call on 2344 1002 / 2344 1003​. Nursing staff will not give detailed medical information over the phone to protect patients’ right to confidentiality.

Operational procedures
The general public visiting the ward is obliged to abide by basic instructions especially those attributed to hand washing procedures, ward rounds and ward health and safety procedures.

The public is advised to kindly keep sound levels as low as possible, respect ward instructions, and assist to their relatives in a dignified manner.
